  • Welcome back to the lecture on the Internet of Things.
In this seventh meeting, we will discuss "Big Data and Fog Computing". Big data in the internet of things environment is new hope in developing internet of things applications. Why? because the internet of things application will connect various devices via the internet network, when connecting, of course, there are efforts to verify the device so that it can be ascertained that the connected one meets the requirements to be connected to a service. This process generates data, you can imagine if a device is connected only once to a service, then the minimum data generated is the log-in status of a service, especially if there are thousands or millions of devices ?. The platform that is able to collect all data from all of these processes in a data storage container is what is called BIG DATA.

Whereas Fog Computing is considered as a special extension of cloud computing, which brings some important processes closer to the user and stores the rest in the cloud. These computing systems are becoming especially popular, for IoT applications that are time-sensitive and latency. Fog uses the same storage, network, and computing resources like the cloud and shares most of the same attributes.

Our goal in discussing Big Data and Fog Computing is to complement our understanding of the internet of things-based business service environment so that we have the ability to visualize a complete business platform in terms of its requirements and environment.
