There are several types of conditional sentences, their use depends on the function of the sentence.  Basically, conditional sentences consist of 2 clauses, if clause and main clause.  The tenses of the two clauses can change based on the type of conditional sentence that will be used.

Conditional Type 0

 This conditional sentence is used to describe general facts or truths that are certain.  For example, if you heat water, it will boil.

Conditional Type 1

 Conditional type 1 is used to describe situations that might or presumably occur in the future and are highly likely to actually occur.

Conditional Type 2

 conditional type 2 is used to describe situations that are unrealistic or have very little chance of happening.  For example, imagine something that is not possible or daydream.

Conditional Type 3

 conditional type 3 is used to refer to the past and suppose how the current situation could be different if what happened in the past is different.

3 type Conditional Sentence

Conditional Sentence Type 1.

 is a presupposition sentence that might occur or is usually called a present real.

 Formula :

  If + Subject + verb-1, Subject + will + verb 1 or Subject + will + infintive, If + Subject + verb1.

 Example of Conditional Sentence Sentences Type 1.

  1. She will arrive here on time if she rides her bike in hurry.

 2. If they don't come to my birthday party, I will send them a message.

 Conditional Sentence type 2.

 is a presupposition that is very unlikely to happen or commonly called past unreal.

 Formula :

  If + S + V2 + object, + S + Would + Verb 1 + Object orS + Would + Verb, If + S + V2 + Object

 is a presupposition that may occur but is unlikely to occur because the event has occurred in the past.

  If + S + had + Verb 3, S + would + have + Verb 3 orS + would + have + Verb 3, If + S + had + Verb 3

How do you fix a conditional sentence?

This type of condition is used in three types of sentences, called the first, second and third conditional sentences.

* Conditional sentence type 1 is a presupposition sentence where the supposition is very likely to occur (realistic to occur) in the future. Conditional sentence type 1 consists of conditional sentences (if clause) and also the main clause, meaning that there must be a condition here and there will be a result / result of these conditions later.

Conditional Sentence Formula Type 1 :

If + Subject + Verb1, + Subject + Will + Verb1 (Bare infinitive)

Or

Subject + Will + Verb1 (Bare infinitive) + If + Subject + Verb1

Example:

1. If it rains, we will cancel the match.

2. I will be mad if Budi is late again.

3. You will miss the bus if you don't hurry.

* Conditional sentence type 2 is a presupposition sentence that might not occur in the present, or the possibility is difficult to occur in the future. Like other types of conditional sentences, type 2 conditional sentences also consist of conditional sentences (if clause) and also main clause, meaning that there must be a condition here and there will be a result / result of these conditions later.

The Type 2 Conditional Sentence formula is :

If + Simple Past Tense, + Past Future Tense

Or

Past Future Tense + If + Simple Past Tense

Example:

1. If I came home earlier, I would prepare dinner.

2. If the Team and Tom were older, they would play in our hockey team.

3. If they have enough money, they will buy a new car.

* Conditional sentence type 3 is a presupposition sentence that is impossible to occur.

Conditional Sentence Formula Type 3 : 

If + S + Had + Verb3, + S + Would / should / could / might + Have + Verb3

Or

S + Would / should / could / might + Have + Verb3 + If + S + Had + Verb3

Example:

1. You could have been on time if you had caught the bus.

2. I would have bought you a present if I had known it was your birthday.

3. If the weather had been nice, they would have played football.
