There is not much detail in the topic sentence, but this sentence is able to introduce the whole idea to be discussed later in the paragraph. Topic sentence is located at the beginning of a paragraph. Supporting sentence (or body sentence) is a sentence that supports or develops an idea expressed by a topic sentence in a paragraph.
