Coordination & subordination 

 

Coordination Are to do with connecting ideas of equal importance or balance  conjunctions.  

(for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. ) 

The example for coordination like  

Coordinating of clause for example 

  1. He Arrive But I stay. (He arrive is a clause) (He = Subject) (Arrive = Predicate) , (I Stay is a clause) (I=Subject, stay = predicate) 

Coordinatig of Pharases for example in Noun Pharases 

  1. Jim and his dog. (Jim is a noun = Name) (His dog is a noun pharase) 

And like the learning material we know Independent clause it's simply a complete sentence a sentence that has both a subject and a verb so this sentence can stand alone and that's why we call it independent as opposed to dependent.  

For the example : Susan forgot to set her alarm.  Susan is an subject and forgot is a verb. 

Coordinate adverbs : (also, besides, instead, moreover, therefore, etc) for make the sentence equal 

Relative pronouns : (that, who, whom, whose, which) Make the sentence Dependent 

Conjunctions for coordination : (For,And,Nor,But,Or,So) 

Subordination are connect important ideas with less important ideas. Has two clause like main clause and embedded clause we connecting. 

For the example  

  1. Susan Forgot to set her alarm because she was tired. (susan forgot to set alarm  was the main clause) (She was tired was the subordinate clause)

  1. He thought that i would leave. (He tought was the main clause) (that I would leave was the subordinate clause) 

Conjunctions for subordination : (although,because, even if, since, untill, while)
