Coordination & Subordination

oleh fandi marhan21 -

Coordination means combining two sentences or ideas that are of equal value. Subordination means combining two sentences or ideas in a way that makes one more important than the other. Using these strategies will help add variety to your sentences.

The definition of coordination is being able to move and use your body effectively and multiple people or things working well together. An example of coordination is when a gymnast walks on a tightrope without falling. An example of coordination is when two people work together to plan or coordinate a party

Coordinate and subordinate have different setences and ideas. Coordinate itself combines items that are acually important and combines the same setences while subordinate itself is a combination of idependent and main clause which can produce complex setences. To be able to continue studying it, it is necessary to know the words of each of these conjuction. Foto the coordinate, there is aterm called FANBOYS wich consist of the words for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. I gave an example, we take the words "or" For example "What did you do during the covid pandemic, prefer play games at home orang prefer to study. For subordinate words are time, after, as, as soon as, before, once, since, untill/till, when, whenever, while. I take one example sentence for the word " After", which is "after the covid pandemic ends, we can carry out activites as usual".

Coordination & subordination

Coordination Are to do with connecting ideas of equal importance or balance  conjunctions.

(for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. )

The example for coordination like

Coordinating of clause for example

  1. He Arrive But I stay. (He arrive is a clause) (He = Subject) (Arrive = Predicate) , (I Stay is a clause) (I=Subject, stay = predicate)

Coordinatig of Pharases for example in Noun Pharases

  1. Jim and his dog. (Jim is a noun = Name) (His dog is a noun pharase)

And like the learning material we know Independent clause it's simply a complete sentence a sentence that has both a subject and a verb so this sentence can stand alone and that's why we call it independent as opposed to dependent.

For the example : Susan forgot to set her alarm.  Susan is an subject and forgot is a verb.

Coordinate adverbs : (also, besides, instead, moreover, therefore, etc) for make the sentence equal

Relative pronouns : (that, who, whom, whose, which) Make the sentence Dependent

Conjunctions for coordination : (For,And,Nor,But,Or,So)

Subordination are connect important ideas with less important ideas. Has two clause like main clause and embedded clause we connecting.

For the example

  1. Susan Forgot to set her alarm because she was tired. (susan forgot to set alarm  was the main clause) (She was tired was the subordinate clause)

  1. He thought that i would leave. (He tought was the main clause) (that I would leave was the subordinate clause)

Conjunctions for subordination : (although, because, even if, since, untill, while)

Resume Coordination & subordination

oleh Kefas Juan -

In this video I got the information about coordination and subordination.

Coordination has to do with connecting ideas of equal importance, Subordination has to do with connecting more important ideas and less important ideas.

Independent clause it's simply a complete sentence a sentence that has both a subject and a verb so this sentence can stand alone and that's why we call it independent as opposed to dependent, Example : Susan forgot to set her alarm.  Susan is an subject and forgot is a verb.

Coordination connects equal ideas and subordination connects in equal ideas. Example : Susan forgot to set her alarm and Susan (coordinating conjunction) like and and we still have our two independent clauses but we have this coordinating conjunction telling us that both of these ideas are equally important on the other hand we can also connect ideas where one idea is dependent on the other idea so in this sentence Susan forgot to set her alarm because she was tired we still have two independent clauses Susan forgot to set her alarm and she was tired but we're not joining them as if they're equal we're joining them as if the reason she forgot to set her alarm was because she was tired.

A few examples so on one side we have our coordinate adverbs and these are words that connect equal ideas so words like also, besides, furthermore, however, etc and this is not a complete list but we probably get the idea these are words to add additional information that is equal on the other side we have our relative pronouns and these are words that make clauses dependent so we have words like that who, whom, whose, and which.

If we still have two independent clauses within this sentence but one of them the one attached to our relative pronoun has been moved into the middle of the other independent clause so our two clauses would have been Susan forgot to set her alarm and Susan was tired but because we're using a relative pronoun we're going to stick that relative pronoun right next to the subject of our first clause so we'll know who it's referring to and in that way one independent clause gets subordinated into this sentence and in fact actually put or shoved right in the middle of that first independent clause so hopefully this has helped you understand a little bit about coordination and subordination and how they both join sentences but do it in two different ways

Both Coordination conjunction and Subordination conjunction function to join two independent clauses.

The Difference are, Coordination connect ideas of equal importance, and subordinattion connect important ideas with less important ideas.

- Independent clause, a complete sentence that has a subject and a verb so the sentence can stand alone.                                           ex: -Susan forgot to set her alarm.                                                                                                                                                                      -She Overslept, -She was tired

exemple, In Coordination are using conjuntion "and" for equal sentence, and in subordination using "because" to connect important ideas with less important ideas.

example:

coordination: Susan forgot to set her alarm and she overlept                                                                                                                 Subordination: Susan Forgot to set her alarm because she was tired.
